Thanks to all those who came out to DE ZOETE UNCHAINED! on Saturday night. It was great fun to share a whack of new songs with you!


And speaking of heroes in over the top costumes, happy Sinter Klaas day to everyone, be you Dutch or otherwise! This year, he brought a ukulele pitch pipe. But only one, so I have to share it with my uke-playing daughter. Sinter Klaas is Dutch, after all!

I’m really looking forward to playing a show with my Haligonian friend Don Brownrigg on Thursday November 21 at The Pearl Company (16 Steven St., Hamilton). I’ll be opening the show at 8pm. Admission is $15, or $10 for students, seniors, and arts workers.

DE ZOETE UNCHAINED!

Since releasing Colour Film last year, I’ve developed a thick backlog of new songs. They tend to grow and spread, like moss on an un-rolled stone or mold in a dark corner. And they’re getting all sad and lonely, only being heard by myself and my lucky co-habitants.

So I figured I should shake off the shackles of the past and play a show of all new songs. The chains (and gloves) come off Saturday November 30 at The Artword Artbar in Hamilton. I’ll have a few accomplices along to pepper the porridge and smooth the creases.

I’m sure you’ve drawn in a great big breath and are now worrying about how you’ll be able to hold it until then. Fear not! You can exhale and listen to this wee demo of a new song called Again and Again.

Heading up to Barrie this Saturday night to play at an arts festival called Art Ce Soir. I’m looking forward to some art and music in the crisp night air beside Lake Simcoe! Got a stellar show coming up Wednesday September 18 at The Casbah in Hamilton, sharing the stage with Jenn Grant. and Jim Bryson. Jenn is a great musician and friend from Halifax who sang “Not on Fire” with me on the album Bottom of the World. Jim is an outstanding songwriter from Ottawa – I’m sure we’ll duet some day!

It’s an earlier show with doors opening at 7.30pm, and I’ll be on first. Tickets are available here.
