The Euro Disney tour in June and July is growing on the horizon. It’s kind of like summer vacation from the old school days: you look forward to it for so long, and then it goes by in a flash. To help prolong the magic, a few more shows have been added, and a couple media events are in the works. Check the CONCERTS page for all the dates and details.

With spring finally getting its act together, I’ve been focusing a lot of my time and energy on helping my wife get her farm rolling for the year. Nice to work outside again and revive the old aches and pains!

But I’m also still keeping my soft-rock rolling with some new songs and tour plans. I’ll be heading to the Netherlands and Germany for another tour from mid-June through early July, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to it! A lot. Should be great fun. All the details to date are up on the CONCERTS page. Have a gander, and plan your summer accordingly!

Dear Friends,

After much soul-searching, I’ve decided that the time has come for me to take a break from music and enter a new chapter of my life. It’s been a great ride over the past ten years, and I’ve enjoyed almost every second of it. I’ve made many friendships and had many experiences that I’ll treasure for the rest of my life. Heartfelt thanks to everyone who’s been involved along the way.

I don’t feel like I’ve run out of musical steam, and I certainly haven’t stopped enjoying this pursuit. On the contrary, I think things are moving in the right direction – onwards on upwards. However, I have to face the truth: I need to follow my true lifelong dream of shooting pigeons at the airport.

But I don’t think I can do it alone, so I’m asking for your help. There are many hurdles I need to overcome to realize this dream, from financial costs (including a gun and permit and ugly, ill-fitting clothes) to emotional barriers (like realizing that I’m competing with seagulls and hawks). If you feel called to continue your support for me into this new phase of my life as an artist, please check out my fundraising campaign HERE .

Thanks and take care,

Matthew

“The holiest gimmick:
Here come the Olympics.”

Does anyone else find all the hype artificially generated by the broadcasters, sponsors, and organizers to pump up this five ring circus more than a bit silly? Can the world really find nothing better to do with all that money?

Here’s a new song called “Gold, Silver, and Bronze”.

Much like a cave-bound hibernating bear, I periodically emerge from my winter slumber for a stretch and a back-scratching session with the exfoliating door jamb. Then a quick yawn and back to work: sleeping for the bear, writing songs for me. Sometimes the difference is hard to spot!

Things are still rolling along under the blanket of snow, and there’s magic being made between the sheets of ice. (To stretch the metaphor to the breaking point, which is often when humour raises its groggy head.)

Songs are being written and plans are being laid for a new recording project later this year. More details to follow, but in the meantime, here’s a suitably sleep-talking demo called “Pull Out Bed”.

And now back to bed, for me and the bear.
